Custom  Flame KOA  Mini Jumbo  Project     **SOLD**

The top and back wood are selected. The right picture is wet to show the flame.
The top of this guitar is Cedar and the back and sides are wide flame Koa. Once both book matched sets of back of and top woods are joined, they brought to the desired thickness, cut to shape and stored in a climate controlled area. (The top having already had the rosette applied).

The sides of the instrument have been matched to the back and once matched they will be bent. This process consist of first water soaking the wood and then applying it to a preheated mold to steam the wood into shape. Once the sides are bent, a heal and tail block are glued to the book matched set of sides to create the "frame" of the instrument.  Kerfing is then added to the frame to increase mass for which the top and back will be glued to. Thus begins the next stage of body construction.

The wood for the neck is chosen (one pc. Honduran Mahogany) . The neck is then processed and a headstock vaneer is glued on. The headstock shape is then routed and the  inlay of the signature logo is added, machine tuner holes are drilled and the neck is now ready for the dove tail and fingerboard to be added before the hand carving begins.

The back has been inspected for defects and cut to size. After this, the back is put into the climate room to be assembled to the body.

The rosette has been inlayed and the top is being re-inspected to ensure there are no defects or imperfections. Once it has passed inspections it will then be prepped for top construction.

The sides have been bent, kerfed, heal, tail block glued and have been trued and assembled before put into this body mold. The sides will remain in this mold until the top is completed. Once the top is completed they be attached and the body will be together.

Preparing the top for the X Brace with the traditional "go bar" method.  After this is done I will shape the braces and tune the top before it goes onto the body.

An ebony vaneer has been glued to a blank neck, holes and letters have been added as well as the headstock shaped. The fingerboard and dove tail will soon be added.

With body completed and bound, the neck has had the dove tail and fingerboard added and is in the first stages of neck carving. At this stage the neck is not joined to the body but is merely just being fit.

The guitar is now ready for final neck carving and the preparation of the body and neck to be ready for paint.
